Grassland Birds in Southeastern Illinois (4.3-4.26)

Travel by van to observe grassland birds and raptors at many locations in southeastern Illinois. Friday night starts with a short hike in the prairie and wetlands of Robert Ridgway Nature Preserve. Afterwards, we will circle Prairie Ridge State Natural Area looking for waterfowl, Northern Harriers, Short-eared Owls and Greater Prairie-Chickens. Join us for an optional Friday night dinner in Newton.

Early Saturday morning, we will continue birding around Prairie Ridge State Natural area and other local spots dependent on recent eBird reports. We plan to finish by 12:00 p.m.

Hiking will be on trails of no more than 1 mile in length.
