Join, Renew or Gift a Membership
Our members strengthen our organization. Their support enables us to continue our work protecting the diverse habitats of Illinois.
The Illinois Audubon Society was organized as an independent, statewide, educational and scientific organization, incorporated April 10, 1897 by the State of Illinois. We are the oldest nonprofit, conservation organization in Illinois. Our mission is “to promote the perpetuation and appreciation of native flora and fauna of Illinois and the habitats that support them.”
Through our new collaboration, all former members of the Illinois Ornithological Society will remain members of our merged organization. Together we support native habitat, bird research, conservation, and the collection of ornithological data. Our Chapters, along with our events and field trips, provide an opportunity to meet, interact with, and learn from birders around the state.
A basic Illinois Audubon Society membership starts at $25 per year. Your membership extends to everyone residing at the address provided and is due annually on the first day of the month in which you join. Renewal notices are conveniently sent out each year a month before your annual due date or choose to go paperless and receive your renewal reminders by email.
Join a Chapter: There are Illinois Audubon Society Chapters across the state and membership in a local chapter is optional. Chapters provide field trips, programs and networking. Their newsletters and email updates will keep you informed about upcoming Chapter events. Chapter dues are $10.
Gift Memberships: Help a special someone discover nature. Select a membership level, a local chapter (optional) and provide their name, address and email information during the checkout process. We will notify them of your thoughtful gift and welcome them to the Society.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
As of November 1, 2025, the following changes have been made to membership levels:
- Friend-Plus Membership level has been discontinued.
- The price of memberships will no longer be offered as a range, but rather a set price per level.
- The Affiliate level has been separated into two types: Organizational Affiliate (nonprofit organizations) and Partner Affiliate (for-profit businesses.) The price, $100, remains the same.
- Membership may be purchased as subscriptions, which will automatically renew each year
Illinois Audubon Society is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Your membership is tax deductible as permissible by law except for the $15 fair market value of Illinois Audubon magazine included with your membership. Illinois Audubon Society will never rent or sell your personal information.
