At the peak of spring migration this will be a fast-paced adventure. Two-hundred and sixteen species have been recorded in Pere Marquette State Park, one of the state’s largest parks, and we will try to find as many as we can. We may also visit Stump Lake and/or cross the Brussel’s Ferry to Swan Lake to add waterfowl and shorebirds to our list. Highlights could include lots of spring migrants, a free ferry ride, and breathtaking vistas of the great confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. Possibilities include: Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Wood Thrush, and various songbirds such as Summer Tanager, Prothonotary Warbler, Ovenbird and Kentucky Warbler.
This trip will be a combination of hiking, 2+ miles, and van transportation to multiple sites.
Lodging information will be emailed to participants upon registration.
