Enjoy a fun day of bicycling on the paved Rock Island Trail from Dunlap into Peoria. There are several large habitat areas along the route including restored prairie, wetlands and an old growth forest. On this field trip, we will be in that sweet spot as migration winds down and nesting begins, hoping to see both late spring migrants and species that use the area for breeding purposes … vireos, warblers and woodpeckers, oh my!
This is a leisurely ride, all downhill, and we will stop to explore and identify birds along the way. We will have brunch at Fox Pub and Cafe, an English pub known for its traditional fare and wide selection of craft beers. Leaders Greg DuBois and Brian “Fox” Ellis will help us find birds and manage bikes.
Shuttle will be provided back to your car.
